Kishu Binchotan Charcoal Sticks 1/4 lb

Powerful purification. Kishu Binchotan in its purest form

Binchotan charcoal is regarded as the purest and most effective type of activated charcoal, and is revered for its purifying ability. Reusable, recyclable and bio-degradable.

These sticks are 100% Ubame Oak, and are exactly as they are when removed from the ancient kilns in which they are made. The high temperatures and quick cooling, by dousing with ash, result in glass-like and beautiful branches.

When simply added to a carafe of water, the thousands of microscopic cavities left in the wood effortlessly remove unwanted toxins and impurities, while softening and improving waters taste. Completely natural, these eco-friendly sticks are great for the garden and can be disposed of in soil once they start to diminish in efficacy (about 3 months). Wakayama, Japan.

About Binchotan Charcoal
Binchotan is a premium activated charcoal that has been revered in Japan for centuries as a natural air and water purifier. Possessing powerful purification and detoxifying properties, Binchotan is included in a number of beauty and wellness goods where it helps to cleanse on a microscopic level.

Charcoal; 100% Ubame Oak

1/4 lb (112g)

Each bag includes an assortment of charcoal pieces of various sizes.

Approximate stick sizes: 4"-6" in length and 1/2"-1" in diameter

Before using, rinse the charcoal sticks under running water and gently brush to remove excess ash. Bring a pot of water to a boil and allow the sticks to boil for 10 minutes. The charcoal is now ready to use!

The sticks should be reactivated by boiling every 2-3 weeks. They will begin to lose their effectiveness around 3 months of use and should be replaced.

PURIFYING WATER
Submerge desired amount of Binchotan Charcoal Sticks into a gallon of water. The charcoal will release alkali ions to increase the water's pH, release natural minerals, and absorb unwanted chemicals from the water. 1/4 Lb is perfect for a gallon of water!

COOKING
Add Binchotan Charcoal to a rice pot or steamer filled with water. The far infrared rays released by the charcoal during cooking will retain the taste of the food and eliminate any unpleasant flavors. *Although it is often used for grilling (and is essential for life-changing Yakitori), we do not recommend using our Binchotan as a fuel.

AROUND THE HOUSE
Binchotan Charcoal works great as a deodorizer. Place charcoal pieces inside your fridge or cabinets, and the charcoal will absorb airborne odor-causing molecules and bacteria. They will also absorb moisture, helping to combat dampness and mold in a closet or drawer. Just be sure to regularly let the sticks air out in direct sunlight.

IN THE GARDEN
Recycle your used charcoal by re-purposing it as soil compost. Break a stick into bits and place them into soil to help stimulate natural growth and nitrogen production. The tiny pores in the charcoal help aerate the soil, increasing microbial activity and creating healthy natural soil for your beloved plants.
